Badge and Certificate System

Fire Badge - Level 1
The student must show their ability to prepare a camp fire. This includes the skills of properly preparing tinder, a campfire site, and the collection of fire wood. The student must study and complete the test for the California Camp Fire Permit. The student then must demenstrate the 3 methods listed below.

-Battery and Steel Wool

Fire Badge - Level 2
Prerequisite: The student must have earned fire badge 1
The student must show their ability to create extra fine tinder to accept the spark or focused sunlight to combust into a flame. All 3 methods listed below must be demenstrated.
-Ferro-Magnessium Rod
-Flint and Steel
-Magnifying Glass

Fire Badge - Level 3
Prerequisite: The student must have earned fire badges 1 & 2.
The student must have the skills and ability to build every kit for the methods listed below. The student then must succesfully demenstrate their ability to produce a coal with each kit.
